
… a kid with a video on youtube, with no talent whatsoever (displayed during the duration at the movie, that is!) is projected to stardom, interviewed in TV shows and has his own million-hit website with a hole PR crew and sponsors backing him, and his site is even used to promote the artist he parodied.
This is just an opinion on the advent of personal promotion we’ve seen around these last few years. It’s part of the so-called web2.0, but I don’t think this is necessarily good… It’s the promotion of low quality products (or productions) for the sake of creating iconic images and characters to be used for marketing and publicizing other products. In case you don’t see the “problem”, I’ll repeat myself: “(…) promotion of low quality products (or productions) (…)”
Oh well… I guess I’ve seen worst things in real life, at times… They just don’t turn out rich! *sigh*
