Conduit Project 0.34 Released

I’ve talked about this project sometime ago (post in Portuguese), and I’ve kept it dearly. It’s a great project and concept, and a key feature in desktop Linux. Everybody interested in Gnome, Linux and Open Source in general *should* take a look!

On their latest version, they’ve added YouTube and Google Calendar support, along with bug fixes and some other cool features.

They’re still a development product, and they’re releasing versions with some known bugs (and warning you about them!) but the idea is to get user’s input into the making of the product. If it were a webapp, they’d call it “Conduit Beta”… :p

You can get some screenshots and even a screencast on their website.

O-Zon… err… Dan Balan - Sugar Tunes !!

Well… Following my previous post, I ended up at Balan’s MySpace! For those who don’t know, he was a member of the disco-pop-one-hit-wonder band O-Zone, and the guy behind the original “Numa Numa” song (it’s original name was “Dragonstea Din Tei“). He’s now going solo and changed his sound quite a bit, from old-school disco-pop to some sort of weird mix of pop+punk+rock.

But the reason why I’m writing this post on him, is that he did a remake of his own song, called “Sugar Tunes”. That’s the song on the YouTube video above. For those who enjoyed a good laugh at the original song and all it’s remakes on YouTube, this is some sort of “Original Remake”… And the video is quite funny, along with the rocky tune behind it! And, like the original, it’s darn catchy but ROCKING!!!!! LOL

Lyrics resemble a non-sense novel of some sort… Hilarious!
Read them after the break!

You know it’s a sad day for the interweb when…

NumaNuma Logo
a kid with a video on youtube, with no talent whatsoever (displayed during the duration at the movie, that is!) is projected to stardom, interviewed in TV shows and has his own million-hit website with a hole PR crew and sponsors backing him, and his site is even used to promote the artist he parodied.

This is just an opinion on the advent of personal promotion we’ve seen around these last few years. It’s part of the so-called web2.0, but I don’t think this is necessarily good… It’s the promotion of low quality products (or productions) for the sake of creating iconic images and characters to be used for marketing and publicizing other products. In case you don’t see the “problem”, I’ll repeat myself: “(…) promotion of low quality products (or productions) (…)

Oh well… I guess I’ve seen worst things in real life, at times… They just don’t turn out rich! *sigh*

Obrigado ao João por me ter mostrado isto… É simplesmente fantástico!

PS: ainda acho que, como um comentário no blog do João também indicou, que o miúdo parece ser mais velhito do que 1 ano… Mas… mesmo assim… =)
